What a way to cap off the semester.
The Nipissing Lakers men's basketball team came up a huge win, 84-51 over the Windsor Lancers, Saturday to not only earn a weekend split, but also finish 2018 off with a dominant effort.
The Lakers led almost from tip-off and controlled the middle portion of the game to come away with their second win of the season.
The teams combined for 44 points in the opening quarter, with the Lakers holding a 24-20 lead after 10 minutes.
The second and third quarters are where Nipissing broke the game wide open.
In the second, the Lakers pout up 21 points and took a 45-27 lead into the break.
They piled on to that lead in the third, scoring another 21 points and padded their lead to 66-38 and were on cruise control moving towards the final quarter.
In the fourth, the Lakers scored another 18 points to seal the win, as they actually extended their lead by another five.
In the end, a dominating effort was the perfect way to end the first half of the year.
The Lakers were led by
Marcus Lewis, who had a double-double, 18 points and 14 rebounds and
Jordan Roberts and
Justin Hill each added 17 points in the big victory.
The Lakers are back in action in January.
