The Nipissing Lakers level 6 competitive cheer program has current team openings for the 2023-2024 season.
The team is competitive only.
Practices are Monday and Thursday 8:30-10pm at Apollo Gymnastics Club 195 Tenth Street, North Bay.
Cost is $300 for the season September-March.
Try-outs are Thursday, Sept. 5th at 8:30pm at Apollo Gymnastics Club.
We're looking for students with cheer or competitive gymnastics backgrounds but beginners are welcome. Every year the team accepts athletes with a positive attitude who are new to the sport.
About Nipissing Cheerleading
This team competed at the World Championships in 2017 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports at Walt Disney World Florida and placed 14th ahead of teams from Sweden, Norway, USA, Canada, Japan and Germany.
Potential athletes are required to have previous competitive cheer stunting experience or have a competitive gymnastics background with a minimum skill set of standing tucks and running spring tucks.
Tumbling skills are by far the biggest asset but not required if the stunting ability is there. Likewise, if the tumbling skills are there, stunting experience is not required.
The team trains Sept-April at Apollo Gymnastics Club here in North Bay.
