The Lakers Dance Team is a student-run competitive dance team that has been established at Nipissing University for more than a decade. The team trains in many styles such as lyrical, jazz, contemporary, hip hop and tap. The dance team performs two showcases each year as well as the occasional halftime performance at Lakers varsity sporting events.
The team represents the university when travelling to dance competitions each spring to compete with teams from other colleges and universities. Each year, auditions are held for each style and dancers are selected to build the team. Once dancers have been selected, the Lakers Dance Team trains and practices together to prepare for the upcoming season.
