STUDENT-ATHLETE CODE OF CONDUCT:

Student-athletes are subject to the Nipissing University Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities in the same manner as all other students.

Where behaviour concerns arise that are primarily connected to Athletics participation, varsity sport, club sport, team travel, training, competition, team activities, or Athletics facilities, the Director of Athletics, or designate, may conduct the initial review and investigation.

In consultation with the Office of the Assistant Vice-President, Students, matters may be resolved within Athletics where appropriate and consistent with the principles and procedures of the Nipissing University Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities.

Where the severity, complexity, nature of allegations, potential sanctions, conflict of interest, or applicable University policy requires broader institutional involvement, the matter may be referred to or jointly managed through the University's formal Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities process.

STUDENT-ATHLETE SCHOLARSHIPS:

Athletic financial awards (AFAs), are an athletic scholarship that is conditional to being on a USports or OUA team.  All athletic financial awards related to Varsity sports fall under OUA and USports regulations.

As of the 2024-25 season, first-time entering student-athletes will be permitted to participate and receive an athletic financial award so long as they have been accepted to a member university and enrolled in degree-granting courses.

Returning student-athletes can also qualify for these athletic financial awards and must maintain a minimum average of 70% in each academic year to remain eligible. Athletic financial awards are determined by the head coach in conjunction with the Department of Athletics.

The amounts and number of athletic financial awards are at the discretion of the school and subject to OUA and USports regulations.
