It was a tough weekend results-wise for the Nipissing Lakers men's soccer team, despite playing two solid games.

The Lakers, a day after falling to the nationally ranked Ryerson Rams, dropped a 5-1 decision to the Toronto Varsity Blues Sunday afternoon.

Toronto scored three times late in the game to put it away, but the final score didn't reflect how close the game was for 80-plus minutes.

Nipissing got off to a great start when Ryan Roy hammered home his second goal of the season, putting the Lakers up 1-0 26 minutes into the game.

Toronto would do the rest of the scoring from there.

The Varsity Blues tied the game early in the second half and add four more goals later in the period to secure their victory.

With the loss, Nipissing falls to 3-5-0 and have lost three straight since winning three of four.

The Lakers remain in fifth place, three points up on RMC and nine back of Toronto, who widened their gap with Sunday's win.

Next up, Nipissing hits the road and will face Trent and UOIT next weekend.
