Box Score 2 The Nipissing Lakers men's soccer team earned two wins on the weekend, one the traditional way and the other through a forfeit.
The Lakers moved to 2-1-0 on the season, picking up a forfeit win over the Queens Gaels Saturday before blanking the RMC Paladins 3-0 Sunday afternoon.
Saturday's win goes down as a 1-0 victory.
On Sunday,
Jamal Brown led the attack with two goals to claim the three points.
Brown's first came on a penalty kick in the 31st minute, a goal that ended up being the game-winner.
The Lakers led 1-0 at halftime and sealed the win in the second half, scoring twice.
Ryan Roy added to the lead with a goal at the 70-minute mark to make it 2-0 and Brown's second of the season came six minutes later to put the game out of reach.
Nipissing outshot RMC 8-1 and cruised to the victory, moving them into fourth place in the East Division after two weekends of action.
Andrew Johnstone picked up the shutout victory.
Next up, Nipissing hosts the Laurentian Voyageurs as the Riley Gallo Cup takes place and the 705 Challenge Cup kicks off.
The Lakers will host the first leg of showdown Friday night at 7:15pm, with the second leg going Sunday afternoon in Sudbury.
