MEN'S SOCCER: LAKERS AND RIDGEBACKS BATTLE TO 1-1 DRAW

A game that saw two different weather delays ended the way it started, with the teams tied.

The Nipissing Lakers men's soccer team remained undefeated on the season, battling the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks to a 1-1 draw, with both teams gaining a single point.

The game started about 30 minutes late due to lightning and was also delayed early in the second half because of lightning.

In the end, the Lakers scored the lone goal in the second half after trailing 1-0 to pull out the tie.

Ontario Tech struck first, going ahead 1-0 at the fourth minute mark in the first half.

After the break and the delay, the Lakers came out and found a way to tie the game.

Ryan Roy was taken down in the 18-yard box which set up a penalty kick.

Veteran Jamal Brown stepped up to the spot and buried the shot to even things up at 55 minutes.

The teams went back and forth late to push for the winning goal, but neither could find the advantage and the game ended in a draw.

Andrew Johnstone was busy and good in goal for the Lakers, finishing with nine save son 10 shots.

Nipissing finished with four shots.

The Lakers are back in action Sunday afternoon when they host the Carleton Ravens at 2:15pm.
