A night after a tough loss, the Nipissing Lakers men's hockey team was back on home ice looking for a bounce back victory.
Facing the RMC Paladins for a second straight night, the LakersÂ
In the opening frame, the teams traded power play markers and ended the first period tied 1-1.
The Paladins struck first with the man-advantage, scoring with 4:15 left in the period.
Nipissing answered with just under two minutes to go in the stanza as
Drake Lindsay put home his fourth of the season.
Dan Desrochers and
Devyn Mayea picked up assists on the goal.
Nipissing held a clear shot advantage, peppering the Paladins net with 19 shots, with RMC recording seven.
In the middle period, despite chances at both ends and a few posts, neither team could find the back of the net and after 40 minutes, the score was still 1-1.
Shots favoured Nipissing 30-29 after two periods of play.
In a tight contest, the Lakers scored twice in the final 20 minutes to pick up the victory.
First it was
Brett Hargrave, scoring in just his second game back in the lineup.
The goal, assisted by
Cam Moore and
Dan Desrochers, was the eventual game-winner.
Jacob Hickey scored the goal to seal the victory for Nipissing into the empty-net.
Lucas Brown grabbed an assist on the third Lakers goal of the game.
Talor Joseph was strong in net and earned the win, finishing with 37 saves.
Nipissing fired a total of 48 shots at the Paladins net.
 Next up, the Lakers host the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks Friday night at 7:30pm and the Queens Gaels Sunday at 4:30pm.
Both contest will be played at Memorial Gardens.
