The Nipissing Lakers women's soccer team had their undefeated season come to an end Friday night, as they came up short in their final home game of the regular season.
The Lakers dropped a 3-1 decision to the visiting Toronto Varsity Blues despite outshooting and out-chancing the Blues through the 90 minutes.
A slow start hurt the Lakers, as they trailed 3-0 before the halftime break and even though they managed one goal in the second half, it wasn't enough to climb back against a determined Blues team.
The Blues opened the scoring at the 18-minute mark of the game and added the eventual game-winner just over 10 minutes later.
Shortly after, they added a goal on a penalty kick to go up by three before halftime.
Jen Milligan continued her strong season, getting the Lakers on the board with a goal at the 76-minute mark.
The loss is the first of the season for Nipissing, as they now sit with an 8-1-0 record.
The teams head to Toronto Sunday for a rematch, as the Lakers wrap up the regular season ahead of a playoff game Wednesday in North Bay.
Kickoff is set for Noon in Toronto.
