Box Score With nothing in terms of standings or position on the line, the Nipissing Lakers men's soccer team battled right to the end of the regular season.

Facing the top-ranked Ontario Tech Ridgebacks, the Lakers knew their playoff destiny, but played hard through 90 minutes, coming up just short, losing 2-1.

The Lakers opened the scoring early in the game, finding the back of net just two minutes into the contest.

Andrew Misner worked hard to get to the front of the net and pushed the ball in, giving the Lakers a 1-0 lead.

The advantage stood for about 15 minutes before the Ridgebacks answered and tied things up.

The 1-1 scoreline would stay the same until the first minute of the second half.

Ontario Tech managed to find an early goal in the second, going up 2-1.

From there, neither team was able to generate much in the way of offence and the final score read 2-1 in favour of the Ridgebacks.

The Lakers finished the season with a 6-5-1 record, good for fourth place in the East Division and will host a playoff game.

The Round 1 matchup is set for Wednesday evening against the Toronto Varsity Blues.
