With the playoffs a lock, the Nipissing Lakers men's soccer team came up short in a pair of road games to close out the regular season this past weekend.

The Lakers dropped Saturday's contest to the Toronto Varsity Blues by a final of 3-0 and lost 2-0 Sunday to the TMU Bold.

Saturday, after a scoreless first half, the Varsity Blues struck three times in 10 minutes to grab a lead and hold on to the victory.

Sunday, a goal at the halftime break and another nine minutes into the second half were all the offence in the game, as the Bold came away with a 2-0 win.

Finishing with a 6-4-2 record, the Lakers finished fifth in the OUA East Division and will now face the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks in Round 1 of the OUA Playoffs.

That game is set for Saturday afternoon at 3:15pm in Oshawa.
