The Nipissing Lakers women's hockey team kicked off the 2024-25 OUA season in style Saturday night.
The Lakers scored goals in all three periods and had four different goal-scorers find the back of the net, while goalie
Chantelle Sandquist was perfect in net, as Nipissing blanked the York Lions 4-0.
The road win was the lone game of the weekend for the Lakers.
Tahlia Fisher scored what turned out to be the game-winner in the opening period, assisted by newcomer
Neha Gill.
Malory Dominico scored in the middle frame, while
Kara Den Hoed and
Lana Duriez added goals in the third to seal the win.
Sandquist did the rest of the work, finishing with 30 saves in the victory.
Next up, the Lakers return home for a pair of games this weekend.
First, Nipissing welcomes the TMU Bold to town Friday night before closing out the weekend with a Saturday afternoon matchup against the Windsor Lancers.
Friday's game is set for 6pm, while Saturday's contest is scheduled for 4pm – both at Memorial Gardens.
