In search of their first win of the season, the Nipissing Lakers men's soccer team took on the Laurentian Voyageurs Friday night at home.

The two teams hit the field twice this weekend, with the rematch of Friday's game set for Sunday afternoon in Sudbury.

A late game push saw the Lakers fight back from being down a pair to earn a 2-2 draw and grab a single point.

The Vees struck first with a nice goal after a loose ball, making it 1-0 after 34 minutes of play.

The late goal was the only one of the first half, as Laurentian took a one goal lead into the break.

Just minutes into the second half, the Lakers extended their to 2-0 capitalizing on a quick chance.

Despite trailing by a pair, the Lakers fought back scoring twice in the second half to tie things up and earn their first point of the year.

Caelan Walraven headed home Nipissing's first goal to cut the deficit in half and setup a late push to even the contest.

In the 80th minute, Josiah Estephane made no mistake, finding the back of the net to tie things at two.

Despite some close calls down the stretch, the game ended with each team grabbing a well-deserved points.

Nipissing will travel west down Highway 17 to wrap up the weekend Sunday.

Kickoff is set for 1pm in Sudbury.
