The Nipissing Lakers lacrosse team capped off the home portion of their season in style on the weekend.
The Lakers welcomed to the Laurentian Voyageurs to town and came up big, winning 17-4 to improve to 2-3 on the season with five games to go.
The Lakers jumped out and took an early lead, up 4-2 after the first quarter.
At halftime, they had extended their lead to 7-2 and were in control of the contest.
In the second half, the Lakers exploded with 10 goals, including seven in the final quarter.
After adding to their lead and going up 10-3 after the third frame, Nipissing saved the best for last, tacking on seven goals to close things out.
Zach Tarr led the offence with four goals and five assists,
Carter Tait had three goals and two assists,
Myles Shorey added two goals and an assist, along with
Jacob Tarr and Matthew Lalonde each scoring twice.
Jack Quinn scored once and added two assists,
Jesse Ashkewe,
Josh Janda and
Kaleb Fulkerson all scored as well.
The Lakers will now hit the road, facing McMaster Friday night and Laurier Saturday afternoon.
