Currently on a winning streak, the Nipissing Lakers men's soccer team was looking to continue their strong play Saturday afternoon.
The Lakers welcomed their rivals, the Queen's Gaels to North Bay for a game with big playoff implications.
Thanks to a late goal, the Lakers battled the Gaels to a 1-1 draw, improving their record to 3-0-2 in their past five games and 3-2-2 overall.
Despite controlling the majority of the game and generating a number of chances, the lone goal of the first half belonged to the Gaels.
In the second half, it was more of the same, as the Lakers controlled the play, but weren't able to get any clean looks at the Gaels net.
Finally, late in the contest,
Chanley Francois found the back of the net to tie the game.
The tying goal came in the 84th minute and ensured one point for Nipissing, as their undefeated streak reaches five games.
Nipissing wraps up the home portion of their schedule Sunday afternoon as they host the RMC Paladins.
Kickoff is set for 2:15pm at the Nipissing Turf Field.
