The Nipissing Lakers men's basketball team will look to get back on track when they return home this weekend after a pair of losses on the road.
The Lakers dropped Friday's contest to the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks by a final of 80-69 and then fell 111-76 to the Queen's Gaels Saturday to close out the weekend.
Not much separated the two teams in the weekend opener, but the Ridgebacks were able add to their lead each quarter, eventually claiming the 11-point win.
Darnaz Mabanza had a big game with 24 points to lead the Lakers, while
Alvin Icyogere and
Alex Blackmore each added 12 in the contest.
To close out the weekend, the Lakers fell 111-76 Saturday night against Queen's.
The Gaels got the jump on Nipissing right from the beginning, picking up an early lead and didn't look back, earning the win.
Mabanza had 20 points to lead the Lakers, while
Jean Rene Brutus Escalona had 16 and Blackmore and
Jack Hagerty each added 11.
Nipissing is back in action next weekend when they host the Ottawa Gee Gees and Carleton Ravens in North Bay.
