Brampton, ON — The Nipissing Lakers made history tonight, earning their first-ever Baggataway Cup semifinal victory with a thrilling 15–12 win over the McGill Redbirds. With the win, the Lakers advance to the Baggataway Cup Final tomorrow, Sunday, November 9 at 1 PM, against the Guelph Gryphons—a team Nipissing handed its only regular-season loss earlier this year.
The game was a back-and-forth battle from the opening whistle. Nipissing and McGill were tied 3–3 after the first quarter, but the Lakers surged ahead in the second with five goals to take an 8–7 halftime lead. The third quarter saw Nipissing extend the margin with four more goals, and despite a late push from McGill, the Lakers held strong in the fourth to secure the win.
Jason Knox, tonight's Player of the Game, delivered a dominant performance with 3 goals and 6 assists for 9 points, orchestrating the offense and setting the tone.
Zach Tarr continued his stellar tournament with 4 goals and 2 assists (6 points), while
Ben King added 3 goals and 1 assist (4 points).
Carter Tait chipped in 3 goals, and
Kaleb Fulkerson contributed 1 goal and 2 assists (3 points).
