The Nipissing Lakers women's hockey team will look to finish the regular season on a high note this weekend.
Coming off a pair of losses on the road this weekend, Nipissing wraps up the schedule with a pair of home dates Friday and Saturday.
This past weekend, the Lakers fell 5-2 to the Waterloo Warriors Friday, before coming up just short, 2-1, to the Laurier Golden Hawks Saturday afternoon.
Friday, after trailing 1-0 after the first, the Lakers tied the game thanks to an
Abby Lunney power play marker early in the second.
Madison Laberge earned the lone assist.
The Warriors would strike three times before the end of the second to go up 4-1 after 40 minutes of play.
Maggie McKee got the Lakers back in the game with a goal midway through the third, with Laberge earning her second assist, along with
Jill Hennessy.
A Waterloo empty-netter sealed the game late in the third.
Saturday, Laurier struck twice in the first period, while Lunney scored for the second straight game to cut into the deficit, but it wasn't enough.
Laberge had another assist, while
Malory Dominico had the other helper on the lone goa.
Nipissing returns home to close out the season, hosting Guelph and Brock next weekend.
Puck drop for Friday's game is set for 6pm, while Saturday's contest is 4pm – both at Memorial Gardens.
