The Nipissing Lakers men's hockey team wrapped up their season on the road this past weekend, earning at split against the TMU Bold.
Friday, the Lakers fell 5-1 to the Bold before bouncing back and grabbing a 3-1 victory to close out the season.
The Bold scored a goal in each of the first two periods, leading 2-0 after 40 minutes, before going up 4-0 in the third period with power play and shorthanded goals.
The Lakers responded as
David Campbell scored on the power play with seven minutes to go in the game, but a late Bold goal would put the game out of reach.
Noah Vom Scheidt and
Devyn Mayea earned assists on the lone Nipissing goal of the game.
Saturday, the Lakers scored three straight goals – including two in the third – after trailing 1-0 after the opening period.
Vom Scheidt scored in the second to tie the game before Mayea buried the eventual game-winner midway through the third period.
Kyle Foreman would add an empty-net goal to grab the win.
Reece Proulx was strong in net, making 36 saves for the victory.
