MEN'S BASKETBALL: Lakers come up short against Badgers

Blackmore scores 15 in road loss

St. Catharines, ON – Men's Basketball lost a tough contest to the Brock Badgers 70-56 on the road on Friday, January 9th.  

Nipissing and Brock each scored 15 in the first quarter. Brock scored 16 to the Lakers 15 in the second quarter, and the Badgers led 31-30 at halftime. 

Brock broke away in the second half, outscoring Nipissing by 6 (21-15) in the third quarter, and by 7 (18-11) in the fourth to win 70-56.  

Nipissing's Alex Blackmore led the Lakers with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists. Jeziyah Excell-Johnson scored 13 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists in 40 minutes of playing time. Alvin Icyogere had 10 points, including a buzzer-beating 3 point shot at the end of the second quarter. Chris Evrard-Malonga scored 8 points and had 12 rebounds in 28 minutes. 

The Lakers shot 33.9% (21/62) in the loss. Nipissing added 20 points in the paint and 12 points off the bench. 

The loss moves Nipissing to 3-10 on the season. 

Nipissing is back in action with two home games this weekend. Friday, January 16th vs. Algoma at 8PM. Then, Saturday, January 17th, the Lakers take on the McMaster Marauders at 6PM. Catch both games live on OUA.tv.
