Quebec – Nipissing Men's Hockey suffered two losses on the road in Quebec this past weekend at Trois-Rivieres and McGill January 23 and 24, respectively.
Jan. 23 saw the Lakers take on the UQTR Patriots on their second trip to Trois-Rivieres in two weeks. UQTR came away from this game with a 1-0 win.
Nipissing had two power play chances in the game, at 8:39 of the first period and 7:38 of the third period; both were unsuccessful.
Lakers netminder Harmon Laser-Hume stopped 19 of 20 Patriots shots in the tough loss.
Then, Saturday, Jan. 24, the Lakers travelled to McGill for a matchup with the Redbirds.
McGill opened the scoring at 11:14 of the first period, then doubled their lead to 2-0 at 13:57. In the second period, the Redbirds scored another at 7:33 and added a fourth at 19:34 to lead 4-0 after 40 minutes. McGill would add another at 18:19 in the third to secure a 5-0 win over Nipissing.
Lakers goalie Harmon Laser-Hume stopped 41 of 46 Redbird shots in the loss.
The losses move Nipissing to a 9-10-3 record on the season.
Men's Hockey returns to action Saturday, Jan. 31 on the road at Queen's. Puck drop is 2:30PM. Then, Sunday, February 1st, the Lakers will take on the Ottawa GeeGees at 3PM, again on the road. Puck drop is slated for 3PM. Both games will be broadcast live on OUA.tv.
