North Bay, ON – Nipissing Women's Basketball suffered a close loss to the Carleton Ravens 68-62 on Saturday, Feb. 14.
Nipissing got off to a good start, leading Carleton 19-11 after the first quarter. Katelyn DeCook led Nipissing with 7 points in the first, followed by Sophie Milner scoring 5, including a big three-pointer that got the crowd going. Ella Banister added 3 points, and Taryn Gauthier and Avery Miller each had 2.
In the second, Nipissing again outscored Carleton, this time 18-15. Milner scored 7, Nicole Budd had 3, and DeCook, Dominique Bouchard, and Gauthier had 2 each. The Lakers led Carleton 37-26 at halftime.
In the third, the Ravens took control of the game, scoring 25 to Nipissing's 9. Avery Miller led Nipissing with 5 in the third, and DeCook and Budd each had 2. Carleton played good defense and hit crucial shots to build their lead to 62-35 after three quarters of play.
In the fourth, Carleton outscored the Lakers 17-16. Avery Walker scored 8 points in the fourth, DeCook added another 4, and Taryn Gauthier scored 3. The Lakers held the lead until the midway point of the final frame, where Carleton took over and managed to win, 68-62.
Katelyn DeCook scored 15 and added 10 rebounds for the double double. DeCook had 3 blocks and 1 steal, as well. Sophie Milner scored 13 points and added 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Avery Miller scored 8 points and added 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Taryn Gauthier scored 7 points and added 2 rebounds and 2 assists.
Women's Basketball finishes the season with a 5-17 record in 2025-26.
