North Bay, Ontario – Lakers Women's Soccer scored a big win over the Carleton Ravens at home on Saturday, Sept. 19 by a score of 4-3.
At 18:49, Hannah Neville scored the opening goal of the game to give the Lakers a 1-0 advantage. Annika Nolte picked up the assist.
Nipissing would hold a 1-0 lead after 45 minutes of play.
In the second half, the Lakers offense got rolling. At 48:30, it was Alissa Scala that doubled the Lakers lead, assisted by Hannah Neville.
Then, Bella Nolte scored at 60:22 to put the home side up by three. Kailey Hill recorded the assist on the goal.
Shortly after, Hill would score one of her own at 68:10 and the Lakers held a 4-0 lead to the delight of the homecoming crowd. Hannah Neville picked up the assist on the Lakers fourth goal.
Nipissing would maintain the lead until Carleton broke through at 85:15 to cut the advantage to three. The Ravens would add two more at 87:39 and 88:48 and the lead was suddenly just one for Nipissing.
The Lakers finished the game strong and took the win at 4-3.
Nipissing outshot the Ravens 20-8. Carleton held the advantage in saves at 11-2. Carleton collected 7 fouls to Nipissing's 5. The Lakers led in corner kicks at 3-2.
Nipissing keeper Brooke McMurren made 2 saves in what is now her second win of the season.
The victory moves Women's Soccer to a 3-2 record, good for 9 points and 5th in the OUA East division.
The Lakers are back in action on the road on September 26th at 3:30PM. The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks are the opponent. Catch the match live on OUA.tv.
