As they continue their march to the post-season, the Nipissing Lakers women's soccer team is finding ways to win.
Despite dominating in shots, chances and overall play, the Lakers managed to just slip past the RMC Paladins 1-0 Saturday afternoon at home.
A handful of posts, missed chances and some great saves from Paladins goalkeeper Claudia Rusu kept the game close even with the one-sided play.
The game's only goal came in the second half, at the 61-minute mark, when
Julia Previte headed home a corner kick by
Sarah Matesic.
The play was executed to perfection and was the game's only offence.
Nipissing ended up outshooting RMC 15-1, with
Mykaela Volpe earning the clean sheet.
The Lakers will now focus their attention to a key game, hosting the Queen's Gaels Sunday afternoon.
While both teams are looking comfortable in terms of the playoff picture, they are jockeying for position and every point counts in the final two weeks of the season.
Kickoff is set for Noon at Nipissing Field as the Lakers wrap up the home portion of their season.
Prior to the game, the team will honour three senior players –
Tori Bellar,
Andrea Young and
Andrea Dermott.
