If the Nipissing Lakers men's team didn't have bad luck, they wouldn't have any luck at all.
The Lakers played another solid game where they deserved a better fate, but a questionable call that resulted in a Queens Gaels penalty kill and ultimately the only goal of the game, decided Sunday's game.
The Gaels were on the right end of the call and walked away with a 1-0 win in a key game in terms of the playoff picture.
The loss puts Nipissing six points back of Queens for fourth place and what would be a home game in Round 1 of the playoffs, but as of right now, the two are scheduled to play each other in the first round.
The lone goal of the game came early in the second half and ended up being the lone goal of the game.
The Lakers had a number of good chances as well as some close calls, firing four shots on net and six towards goal.
Queens finished with five shots on goal and seven towards the net, with one finding its way in.
Andrew Johnstone was solid in net, while four different players managed a shot for Nipissing.
Up next for Nipissing is the final weekend of the regular season where they'll face Toronto Saturday and Ryerson Sunday.
The games are key in sorting out the playoff pictures, with Nipissing able to move up to fourth with two wins and two Queen's losses.
Saturday's game is set for 8:30pm at Varsity Stadium and Sunday, kickoff is 5:30pm.
