Two weekends, two matches and two wins.
The Nipissing Lakers men's volleyball is off to a very strong start after earning their second straight victory of the season Saturday afternoon, sweeping the Trent Excalibur 3-0 at the RJS Athletic Centre.
The win comes a week after they defeated York 3-1 last weekend.
While it wasn't easy, the Lakers did make short work of Trent.
In the first set, the Lakers came out strong, setting the tone for the match.
They built up an early lead and ballooned that advantage to 20-9 in the late stages of the first set on their way to a 25-14 victory.
It was more of the same in the middle game.
Nipissing led 16-14 at the technical timeout and while the score was closer, the Lakers cruised to the 25-21 win to go up 2-0 as they looked to close out the match in straight sets.
In the third, and what turned out to be final set, Nipissing led Trent 16-13 at the technical timeout and pushed that small lead to a 25-17 win in the third game.
The result of three solid games was the match sweep and a second victory this year.
Steve Wood led the Lakers attacked with 10.5 points,
Curtis MacPherson had 9.5 and
James Clendenning added seven in the win.
Nipissing has a bye week now, as they'll work towards their next action which comes on the road in Kingston on Nov. 17 and Nov. 18.
Nipissing will face RMC on the Saturday and Queens on the Sunday before returning home for two more matches at the RJS Athletic Centre.
