A big fourth quarter propelled the Nipissing Lakers men's basketball team to their first victory of the season, Friday night on home court.
The Lakers put up 25 points in the final frame as they walked away with a 80-71 victory over the visiting McMaster Marauders, to improve their record to 1-2.
After trailing 24-20 after the first quarter, Nipissing came up big in the second, doubling McMaster 22-11.
That big second frame erased the Lakers deficit, as they took the lead at the break, leading 42-35.
McMaster fought back and cut the Lakers lead by four and trailed 55-52 after 30 minutes of play, setting up an exciting fourth quarter.
In the fourth, Nipissing pulled away and sealed the victory.
They put up 25 points, outscoring the Marauders by six to earn their first win of the young season.
Justin Hill was impressive, scoring 22 points, while
Marcus Lewis added 19 and
Jordan Roberts picked up 13 in the Lakers victory.
Nipissing hosts Brock Saturday at 8pm to wrap up the weekend.
