WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: LAKERS LOSE TWICE ON THE ROAD

Looking to get back into the win column and pick up a key win was the goal of the weekend for the Nipissing Lakers women's volleyball team.

Unfortunately, they weren't able to accomplish the things on their list, dropping matches to the York Lions and Ryerson Rams.

In Friday's match, the Lakers came up short against the Lions, losing 25-17, 25-22 and 25-15.

Cassie Dobson led the way offensively with seven kills and 13 points.

Shannon Lebreux had six points and Shayla Kessler added five in the loss.

Saturday, against the defending national champions, the Lakers were in tough.

While they fought for the match, they were swept by the Rams, losing 25-13, 25-22 and 25-12.

Dobson once again was the top scoring player on Nipissing with nine kills and 10.5 points.

Kessler added 7.5 points, as well.

Nipissing remains on the road when they travel to play Guelph and Waterloo next weekend.
