They're hanging in there, but the results aren't coming right now for the Nipissing Lakers women's volleyball team.
Nipissing dropped a pair of matches on the weekend, losing 3-0 to the Guelph Gryphons Saturday afternoon and falling 3-0 to the undefeated and nationally ranked Waterloo Warriors Sunday.
The team's first game was at Guelph where Nipissing dropped the first two sets 25-20, before falling 25-16 in the third set.
Leading the way offensively for Nipissing was
Shayla Kessler with eight points, while
Shannon Lebreux and
Olivia Robinson each had seven.
Looking to bounce back, things didn't get easier for the Lakers, as they faced the undefeated Warriors.
While Nipissing battled, they fell short in straight sets, losing 25-16, 25-17 and 25-16.
Olivia Robinson led the way with 5.5 points,
Madison Murphy had five for Nipissing.
The Lakers are back home to face Queens and RMC this weekend on Saturday and Sunday.
With the season winding down, they'll look to get back into the win column and make a push for the playoffs.
Nipissing is currently six points back of the fourth and final playoff position in the OUA East Division.
