Box Score 1 It was a tough road trip for the Nipissing Lakers women's volleyball team, despite playing pretty well against strong opponents.
The Lakers dropped a pair of matches on the road this weekend, losing 3-1 to the Windsor Lancers Friday night and 3-1 to the Western Mustangs Saturday night.
Friday night, the difference was the final two sets, as the Lancers took over.
In the opening game of the match, Windsor edged Nipissing 25-22.
The Lakers responded with a strong effort of their own, winning 25-21 to even the match up.
Windsor took the lead with a 25-20 victory in the third set and sealed the win with a 25-12 triumph in the fourth and what turned out to be, final set.
Shayla Kessler had a big match, posting 13 kills and 17 points, while
Averi Bodnar added 9 kills and 11 points.
In the second match up of the weekend, the results were very similar.
The Mustangs grabbed a 1-0 lead after topping Nipissing 25-18 in the opening game.
Nipissing bounced back to tie the match thanks to a big effort, winning 25-23.
The Mustangs picked up wins in the third and fourth set to claim the match.
The third set was 25-17 and the fourth was 25-16 as they escaped with the victory.
Kessler had another big match, finishing with 13 kills while
Shannon Lebreux added seven in the contest.
The match wraps up the first half of the season for Nipissing.
