For the second straight game, the Nipissing Lakers women's soccer team came away with a gritty 1-0 victory.
Coming into the weekend with a 1-0-0 record, the Lakers grabbed a victory over the visiting Ontario Tech Ridgebacks to move to 2-0-0 on the season and claiming the full six points.
Saturday's lone goal came off the foot of transfer forward
Zoe Derkach who fired a shot to the corner of the net in the 58th minute.
Fellow forward
Madison Logan picked up the lone assist, setting up Derkach's first of the season.
As was the case last weekend,
Mykaela Volpe was perfect in net, finishing with the win and shutout.
She had three saves against the Ridgebacks and provided stability as the last line of defence.
After earning two wins at home, the Lakers will hit the road for the first time this season, heading to Ottawa to take on the Carleton Ravens next Saturday and the Ottawa Gee Gees Sunday.
