WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: LAKERS COMPETE, BUT FALL SHORT ON THE ROAD

| Box Score 2 Despite the end results, the Nipissing Lakers women's volleyball team competed very well this past weekend on the road in Toronto.

The Lakers fell to the Ryerson Rams 3-1 and the York Lions 3-1 as they head into the final two weekends of the season.

In the first match of the weekend, the Lakers fell to the Rams 3-1 (25-17, 25-22, 23-25 and 25-13).

Averi Bodnar had a big match, posting a career-high 20 points thanks to 13 kills and sever service aces.

Madison Murphy added eight kills and 10 points in the contest.

On Saturday, Nipissing started slow, but picked up their play as the match went on.

In the end, the Lions claimed the match 3-1 (25-9, 25-20, 21-25 and 19-25).

Bodnar was great again, putting up 13 kills and 15 points.

Shayla Kessler had 10 kills and 10.5 points in the match and Shannon Lebreux picked up nine points.

The Lakers return home for a matchup with the Toronto Varsity Blues Saturday night at 6pm at the Surtees Athletic Centre.
