WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: LAKERS BACK IN THE WIN COLUMN AFTER WEEKEND SPLIT

The Nipissing Lakers women's volleyball team earned their way back into the win column on the weekend and finished with a split in Kingston.

Saturday, the Lakers picked up a 3-1 win over the RMC Paladins to begin the weekend.

Nipissing won the first set 25-14, but RMC took the second to even up the matching, winning 25-18.

The Lakers sealed the win with a pair of 25-18 victories in the third and fourth sets.

Shannon Lebreux had a big match, posting 14 points for the Lakers, while Averi Bodnar had 11 and Shayla Kessler added 10 in the victory.

On Sunday, wrapping up the weekend, the Lakers fell to the Queens Gaels 3-0.

Queens took the first set 25-20, the second was 25-13 and they finished the sweep with a 25-20 win over the Lakers.

Bodnar had solid match posting seven points, while Kessler added 5.5 in the contest.

Nipissing is back in action on the road next weekend, taking on Toronto and York in Toronto.
