The Nipissing Lakers men's hockey team had a very impressive 2021-22 campaign and it showed in the standings, as well as on the ice.
The team was fun to watch, exciting and entertaining, but that also translated into success.
Nipissing finished second in their division, fourth in the Eastern Conference, hosted a pair of playoff games and finished with a strong 10-7-1 record.
They were 7-2-1 on home ice and had an remarkable run in the second half of the year, going 7-0-1 during an eight game point streak.
The Lakers also finished tied for sixth in the league in goals for with 54 and sat fifth in total shots.
Thanks to their efforts, the team had two members recognized by the OUA, as forward

Caines had an impact right away as the speedy forward made the jump from the OHL to the OUA.
He finished with four goals and seven assists, good for 11 points in 15 games for the Lakers, helping them to a second place finish in the East Division.
Caines also buried one game-winner during the 2021-22 season.
The King City, ON native finished with two multi-point games against Ontario Tech in late February, where he picked up two goals and two assists in two games.
He also had three different point streaks – a four game streak and two, two game streaks.

The veteran head coach – the only one the Lakers have had in their history – has been awarded for guiding the team to an impressive 2021-22 campaign.
Nipissing finished 10-7-1, good for second place in the East Division and fourth place in the Eastern Conference.
The Lakers also finished tied for sixth in the league in goals for with 54 and sat fifth in total shots.
The team advanced to Round 2 of the OUA Playoffs, falling to McGill after shutting out Ottawa in Round 1.
