Box Score The Nipissing Lakers men's hockey team went out on home ice in style.
Playing their final home game of the regular season, which was also Military Appreciation Night and senior student-athlete recognition night, the Lakers came up big.
Nipissing hosted the RMC Paladins and blanked the visitors 2-0 to send the home crowd home happy.
After a scoreless first,
Alexander De Gagne opened up the scoring, burying the eventual winner at the 13:36 mark of the middle frame.
Charlie Johnson picked up the lone assist on the goal.
The score stayed the same until the final 30 seconds of the game when
Elias Lieffers scored into the empty-net to make it 2-0.
While they added an insurance marker, the one goal was enough as
Michael Herringer was outstanding in net, making 34 saves to record the shutout win.
The Lakers closed out their home with the win and wrap up the regular season next week.
Nipissing heads to Ottawa to take on the Carleton Ravens Saturday night.
Game time is 7pm.
