Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

WOMEN'S SOCCER: HISTORY IS MADE AS THE LAKERS BEAT YORK AND ADVANCE TO THE OUA FINALS

With history for the Nipissing Lakers women's soccer team just one win away, they hit the field with a lot of confidence and support Sunday afternoon.

The Lakers took on the York Lions in the second OUA semi-final game, with the winner advancing to face the Ottawa Gee Gees in the championship game.

Thrilling action and a last second goal gave the Lakers a 1-0 win, as they head to the OUA finals.

In the opening half, neither team was able to generate much offence early, but the Lakers did eventually find a goal.

Bella Nolte cashed in to put Nipissing up 1-0 late in the half, with her goal coming in the 42nd minute.

Cassidy Brooks and Rylee Traicoff grabbed assists on the game's opening goal.

In the second half, the Lions tied the game just three minutes in, making it 1-1.

After some chances, close calls and intense moments, history was made.

Cassidy Brooks chipped a bouncing ball into the top of the net and over the goalkeeper, giving Nipissing a very late 2-1 lead.

The goal held up and the Lakers are off to the OUA title game, as well as the USports National Championship.

But before they head to Halifax, NS, the Lakers take on the Ottawa Gee Gees next Saturday in the OUA Championship game.
