WOMEN'S SOCCER: LAKERS EARN A KEY ROAD WIN OVER QUEEN'S

The Nipissing Lakers women's soccer team picked up a huge win and three points on the weekend.

Thanks to a goal in each half, the Lakers built up a 2-0 lead and held on to defeat the Queen's Gaels 2-1 Sunday afternoon in Kingston to put themselves in a favourable spot in the East Division.

Annika Nolte opened the scoring near the 25-minute mark, burying her fifth of the season to put the Lakers up 1-0.

Early in the second half, Rylee Traicoff scored the eventual game-winner, putting Nipissing up 2-0.

The Gaels would strike late, but the Lakers held on in the closing minutes to secure the win.

Sitting in second place in the East Division with one weekend and two games to play, the final playoff seedings will be decided this weekend.

Nipissing faces Toronto Saturday and TMU Sunday, both on the road, to wrap up the regular season.
