The Nipissing Lakers men's hockey team came up with a strong effort and much-needed and deserved win Friday night.
The Lakers snapped their slide, picking up a 4-1 win over the visiting Laurier Golden Hawks at Memorial Gardens.
The Lakers scored four straight goals to grab the victory.
After Laurier struck first in the opening period, Nipissing took over.
Chad Denault tied the game shortly after the game's opening goal to send the teams to the first intermission tied 1-1.
David Campbell earned the lone assist on the goal.
The Lakers tallied twice in the second, with Campbell scoring the eventual game-winner and
Kyle Foreman adding his fifth of the year less than two minutes later.
Denault,
Tyson Tomasini,
Charles Farmer and
Charlie Johnson all grabbed helpers on a big middle frame.
In the third,
Noah Vom Scheidt buried his first career OUA goal, sealing the win for the Lakers.
Jonathan Rees had the assist on the fourth and final Lakers goal.
Reece Proulx finished with 21 saves in the win, while the Lakers pepper the Laurier net, firing 43 shots of their own.
The same two teams are back on the ice Saturday night to wrap up their weekend series here in North Bay.
