Coming off a gritty shootout win Friday night, the Nipissing Lakers men's hockey team was looking to make it a perfect weekend.
The Lakers hit the ice Saturday night, hosting the Lakehead Thunderwolves as both teams look to finish strong.
A strong effort at both ends of the ice by both teams saw the Lakers come up a goal short, losing 2-1 to the T'Wolves.
Lakehead struck first, just under five minutes in, going up 1-0 on the power play.
Kyle Foreman scored his second of the weekend, firing a shot from the boards that found its way to the back of the net.
Elias Lieffers and
Harrison Caines grabbed the helpers on the tying goal.
Shots favoured Lakehead 11-7 after the opening period of play.
In the middle frame, Lakehead took a second lead of the game, scoring on the power play with 11 minutes remaining in the period.
The second period tally stood up as the winner as Lakehead escaped with the win and two points.
Zach Roy made 28 saves in the loss, while Nipissing had 21 shots of their own.
Nipissing travels to Thunder Bay next weekend to once again face Lakehead.
Games are set for Friday and Saturday at 7pm.
