The Nipissing Lakers women's hockey team had a successful trip to the Nation's Capital this past weekend.
The Lakers grabbed two wins – 4-3 in overtime over the Ottawa Gee Gees and 5-2 against the Carleton Ravens, sweeping the weekend and making it four wins in a row overall.
In Friday's contest, extra time was needed, but the Lakers came out on top, edging the Gee Gees 4-3.
Megan Hayhurst,
Jill Hennessy,
Maggie McKee and
Abby Lunney – with the winner all scored for the Lakers, while
Chantelle Sandquist made 19 saves in the victory.
Saturday, to wrap up the weekend the Lakers used a balanced attack to earn the victory and three points.
Jill Hennessy and
Malory Dominico scored twice, while
Madison Laberge added a single for the Lakers, with Sandquist and
Rachel Lee combining for the win.
The Lakers are back at home next weekend as they host the Western Mustangs Friday night at Memorial Gardens.
Puck drop is set for 7pm.
