After a heart-breaking loss Thursday night in the quarter-finals, the Nipissing Lakers women's soccer team was back at it Friday afternoon.

In the consolation semi-final of the 2024 USports National women's soccer tournament, the Lakers faced the host, Dalhousie Tigers.

Like Thursday night, the teams were tied, forcing penalties.

The Lakers picked up a 4-3 win, sending them through.

Neither team was able to breakthrough in the opening half and the teams went to the break tied 0-0.

In the second half, it was more of the same.

After 90 minutes, nothing was settled so the teams went directly to penalty kicks.

Avery Cafaro scored the deciding goal for the Lakers, as they advance to the consolation finals.

Nipissing will face Trinity Western on Saturday, with kickoff set for 4pm.
