After a strong weekend, earning a win and draw, the Nipissing Lakers men's soccer team was looking to keep the momentum going with two more home games.
In the first of two key games, the Lakers hosted the Trent Excalibur as part of Nipissing Homecoming.
After 90 solid minutes, Nipissing made it two wins in a row, as they defeated Trent 4-1.
The Lakers wasted no time hitting the scoreboard, as
Caelan Walraven continued to find the back of the net, putting Nipissing up 1-0 a minute into the game.
About midway through the opening half, Walraven doubled the lead for the Lakers, scoring on a penalty kick, making no mistake, using the post to his advantage.
Nipissing went up 3-0 thanks to
Olutosin Ajakaiye, who converted on his opportunity to put the Lakers in the driver's seat.
Trent replied before the half, cutting into Nipissing's lead, as the teams went into the halftime break, with the Lakers leading 3-1.
Olutosin Ajakaiye buried his second of the game in the second half, putting the Lakers back up by three as he continues his strong campaign.
After regaining their three-goal lead, the Lakers were able to slow down the pace and secure their second win in the last three games.
The Lakers have now earned seven out of a possible nine points in the past two weekends.
Nipissing closes out the weekend and Homecoming against Ontario Tech Sunday afternoon.
Game time is set for 2:15pm at the Nipissing Turf Field.
