The Nipissing Lakers women's hockey team wasted little time getting back into the win column this past weekend.
After a tough overtime loss last weekend, the Lakers picked up two solid wins on the road, defeating the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks 4-1 Friday, before blanking the Queen's Gaels 3-0 on Saturday.
To open the weekend, Nipissing jumped on the Ridgebacks right away grabbing a 4-0 lead before Ontario Tech spoiled the shutout late in the contest.
Madison Laberge,
Melissa Svienson,
Megan Hayhurst and
Ashley Taciuk scored for the Lakers, while
Jordan Sladics made 10 saves in the win.
Saturday was similar as Nipissing didn't waste any time grabbing an advantage and cruising to the victory.
Maggie McKee,
Tessa Kosec and Laberge all scored, while
Chantelle Sandquist made 39 saves for the shutout win.
The Lakers are back in action next weekend when they host the York Lions and Ottawa Gee Gees at Memorial Gardens.
