While they kept the games within reach, the Nipissing Lakers women's basketball team came up short this weekend.

The Lakers fell 79-47 Friday in Ottawa against the Gee Gees, then lost to the Carleton Ravens by a final of 72-57 Saturday night in Ottawa.

On Friday, leading the way offensively was Taryn Gauthier who had a strong game, posting 17 points for the Lakers.

Saturday, veteran Megan McCarter stepped up and led the Lakers with 17 points in the contest to close out the weekend.

Nipissing remains on the road and takes on Algoma next weekend in Sault Ste. Marie.
