The Nipissing Lakers men's hockey team is looking for a late season push to not only climb the standings, but also squeeze into the post-season.
The Lakers will need to finish strong and it begins with a pair of games against the visiting Waterloo Warriors this weekend.
Friday night, the Lakers kicked off their weekend, falling short by a goal, 2-1, to Waterloo.
The Lakers continued to be snake-bitten offensively, being held without a goal through 40 minutes, while the Warriors tallied twice.
With the score 2-0 late in the third, Nipissing did manage to get on the board, cutting into their deficit.
The lone Lakers goal came from
Devyn Mayea with just over a minute to go, but it wasn't enough.
Zach Roy finished 24 saves, while the Lakers fired 33 at the Warriors net.
The same teams are back on the ice Saturday afternoon to wrap up the weekend.
Game time is set for 4pm at Memorial Gardens.
