Box Score North Bay, ON – The Nipissing Women's Volleyball team lost 3-0 to the Western Mustangs on November 29th at RJS Athletics Centre.
The first set opened with a 7-1 Western run before Cassie Robinson's killed stopped the Mustangs' momentum. Nipissing won 3 in a row to get into the match, but Western answered with 5 straight points to lead 12-4. Nipissing got into the match, winning 7 of the next 9 points to trail 14-11. This trend continued as Nipissing got the score to 17-16 Western. The teams traded points before Oceane Raymond-Leduc scored 3 kills in 5 points to tie the game at 22. Western then scored 3 in a row to win 25-22.
The second set opened with another strong start for Western, who lead 10-1. Nipissing then won 6 points in a row to cut Western's lead to just 3. Nipissing gained momentum, and scored 6 of the next 7 points to take a 13-12 lead. Western answered with 7 of the next 9 points going their way, leading 19-15. Nipissing took 2, but Western responded with 6 of the final 7 points to win 25-18 and lead 2-0.
Western again started the next set with a run of points, leading 7-1 quickly. Nipissing would cut the lead to 9-5, but Western would respond with 3 of the next 4 and lead 13-6. Points were scored for either team evenly in the middle part of the set, with neither team making a run. Western led 21-17 before Cassie Robinson's kill got the Lakers to within 2. Oceane Raymond-Leduc added 2 kills, but Western held their lead, winning 25-21 and the match 3-0.
Raymond-Leduc led Nipissing with 19 kills, 12 digs, and 3 service aces. Cassie Robinson scored 6 kills and added 3 digs. Alex Hannivan had 5 kills, 3 service aces, and 8 digs. Ramanda Bell scored 2 kills and 1 service ace in the loss.
Nipissing now sits at 2-8 on the season. Women's Volleyball has completed the 2025 portion of this season's OUA schedule, with their next match coming on January 9th, 2026, when the Brock Badgers visit North Bay at 6PM.
