Toronto, ON – Nipissing Women's Basketball dropped two games on the road this past weekend against the University of Toronto Varsity Blues, and Toronto Metropolitan University.
On Friday, November 28th, the Lakers took on the Varsity Blues at the Goldring Centre, unfortunately losing 66-53.
Sophie Milner and Nicole Budd each scored 12 points for the Lakers, with Milner adding 9 rebounds and 4 steals. Budd contributed 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and a steal. Taryn Gauthier scored 8 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 assists. Dominque Bouchard added 6 points, 3 rebounds and an assist. Off the bench, Sydney Lake scored 5 points, and Avery Walker added 3.
Nipissing won the first quarter 23-15, but Toronto took the 3 remaining quarters 17-8, 17-9 and 17-13, respectively. Nipissing shot just 32% from the field in the loss.
Then, on Saturday, November 29th, the Lakers took on the Toronto Metropolitan University Bold. The Bold were undefeated entering this game, sitting 9-0. Nipissing unfortunately could not come away with a win, losing 96-52.
The Bold won the first quarter 30-8, the second 25-13 to lead 55-21 at half; the Bold then took quarter 3 28-17 before Nipissing won the fourth 14-13.
Nicole Budd dropped a season-high 29 points on 10/22 shooting from the field, adding 9 made free throws. She added 7 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal. Taryn Gauthier added 5 points. Sydney Lake and Avery Miller each scored 5 off the bench.
The losses move Women's Basketball to 3-9 on the season.
The Lakers have completed the 2025 portion of their 2025-26 OUA season, and will be back in action on Friday, January 9th, 2026, on the road in St. Catharines, Ontario, for a matchup with the Brock Badgers. Tip-off is 6PM, catch all the action live on OUA.tv.
