St. Catharines, ON – Nipissing Lakers Women's Basketball dropped their game on the road at the Brock Badgers 72-63.
Brock lead after the first quarter by three, 19-16. The Lakers were then outscored by 10 in the second, 23-13, as Brock led 42-29 at half. In the third, Brock scored 20 to Nipissing's 12. The Lakers fought hard to almost complete a comeback in the fourth, outscoring Brock 22-10.
Nicole Budd led the Lakers with 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 assist. Taryn Gauthier dropped 14 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists. Katelyn DeCook scored 8 points, 8 rebounds, and added 2 assists. Dominique Bouchard scored 7 points and 2 assists.
The Lakers shot 38.5% from the field in the contest. Nipissing had 32 points in the paint and 16 points resulting from turnovers.
The loss moves WBB to 3-10 on the season. The Lakers next game is Friday, January 16 at 6PM vs Algoma. Then, Saturday January 17th, the Lakers will face McMaster ar 4PM. Both games are at home at RJS Athletic Centre and will be broadcast live on OUA.tv.
