WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Lakers add 2026 recruit Evans

The Left Side joins Nipissing after a successful junior career with Storm Tornado VC.

North Bay, ON – Nipissing Lakers Women's Volleyball is proud and excited to announce the signing of Left Side Lola Evans for the 2026 season.

Evans hails from Newmarket, Ontario, and attended Sir William Mulock Secondary School. She played for Storm Tornado in her junior volleyball career.

When asked to comment on her style as a player, Evans said "I am a consistent and reliable teammate. I help lead the team and motivate the people around me."

"I want to develop and be able to learn from the players around me. I will bring energy to this team" Lola said when asked what expectations she has for herself as she transitions into OUA competition.

"First, we would like to welcome Lola to the Lakers family," said head coach Marc LaRochelle. Having a chance to get to know Lola on her visit, it was evident that she would be a great fit for our program. She is very motivated to learn, grow, and continue to develop as an athlete. Lola has a solid passing platform, can read well on defense and possesses a variety of tools that allow her to score in different attacking scenarios.

Lola was captain of her club team, Storm Tornado, and helped lead the team to a 3rd place finish at the 2025 provincial championships. Evans also received the Ontario Volleyball Association's Achievement of Excellence Award in the same season.

Evans will be enrolling in the Bachelor of Education program at Nipissing in Fall 2026. When asked why she chose the Lakers, Lola said "I felt connected right away with the strong and friendly team culture. The coaching staff is amazing and helped me feel right at home."
