After a well-deserved victory Friday night, the Nipissing Lakers men's hockey team was back in action Saturday afternoon.
Facing the Windsor Lancers once again, the Lakers put together another strong 60-minute effort, but came up short.
A comeback effort wasn't enough, as the Lakers fell 3-2 to the Lancers.
After a scoreless first, the Lancers struck for three goals in the middle frame – two before the midway mark and one with about 30 seconds left in the frame.
The Lakers turned up the pressure in the third, scoring twice.
Payton Vescio got Nipissing back in the game, scoring with 10 minutes remaining to cut the deficit to two.
With just under two minutes to go,
Charlie Johnson scored to make it a one-goal game.
Luke Strickland and
Charles Farmer assisted on Vescio's tally, while
Devyn Mayea and
Harrison Caines grabbed helpers on Johnson's late goal.
Zach Roy made 35 saves in the game, while Nipissing had 39 shots of their own.
Nipissing wraps up the regular season next weekend against TMU on the road.
